Bullying is a world-wide epidemic. It is no longer just about being beat up or having your lunch money stolen.
Even with anti-bullying and zero-tolerance policies being taught in school, the problem is growing, metastasizing, and becoming more sinister with online postings/memes, shunning, shaming and discrete threats.

The creator of this project was a target of bullying throughout his life from elementary school through high school. He was bullied to the point of having no self esteem and experienced three failed attempts at suicide. He has been working in mental health related fields for over 25 years and regularly sees the impact bullying has had on others as well. This body of work is a combination true life experiences he lived through and of those witnessed in others.
Bullying that I went through included name calling and branding, being pushed into and locked inside of a school locker until school officials could open it. Additionally, being pushed into a garbage can, having garbage and food poured over my head, as well as having my head pushed into a soiled toilet.
The thing in my life that bothers me the most is that I engaged in an act of bullying in high school due succumbing to peer pressure. As a senior, the hazing of sophomores entering high school included having any that passed through the lobby of the school push a penny across the floor with their nose. Unfortunately I gave in to the taunts of other seniors and had one kid push a penny. I don't know who he was and to this day I wish I could say I am sorry. I have lived with that regret throughout my life knowing that I have done something that caused another person humiliation.
Acts of kindness were rare as I was going through depression in high school. Words of kindness from others, acts of caring and having some friends that gave me time, listened to me and showed empathy provided brief glimpses of light in the darkness that filled my life. That is the type of hope that I hope to give to others and the change that I hope this musical will help to spark within others when they see those in need. To inspire others to be the change that they hope to see in the world.
I began playing piano at three years of age. Prior to that, my parents expressed that when I heard beautiful music being played that my response was to cry as it connected with me. To this day, I experience the same sensation... I cry because it connects with me on such a deep level that I have no other means of expression that is adequate. Throughout my life, music was the one thing that I felt I could connect to through good times and bad. It didn't judge... it supported. It allowed me self expression and emotional release. Quite frankly, music on many levels likely saved my life.
Each character has their own unique style of music... everything from a comedian with a carnival or circus sounding song to a religious old fashioned stomping, clapping revival. Some of the songs are humorous, some very pensive and contemplative. Each song is being professionally orchestrated and ready for the stage.
